Phish in Chicago

After getting shut out for Red Rocks tickets, I will be seeing Phish in Chicago August 11th. While it's not 4 shows, I'm officially not bummed about missing the bands return to the famous amphitheater. The show is taking place at Toyota Park, Chicago's soccer stadium, making it the biggest venue the band will play this summer next to the freshly announced Fenway Park show on May 31st.

This Fenway show has the potential to be very, very good. The Dave Matthews Band is playing there the previous 2 nights (29th and 30th) so expect to see members of Phish sitting in with them and vice versa. The last time the two bands played with one another was 1994 when DMB was opening for Phish. There were some epic jams played at those shows and we could be in for a repeat almost 15 years later.

We will keep you posted on what shows the two of us plan on going to this year. Let us know if you will be at any of them.

Phish @ Red Rocks Part 2

Well I, like so many others, were shut out of tickets through the Phish lottery yesterday. No on I know personally got any tickets, which goes to show that Phish themselves must not have had many tickets on one of their own shows. This is very saddening and goes to show the sad and pathetic state of the live music industry right now, but that's something for another post.

Tickets go on sale publicly tomorrow at 12 mountain time. I'm going to try my best to score a couple of 4 day passes but I don't have a lot of confidence that I'll manage to grab any.

In other news, anyone find it a little weird that there have been a lot of plane crashes in the last half of a year?

Phish @ Red Rocks

Today the band Phish announced a 4 night stand (July 30th through August 2nd) at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. This is the first time they have played there in 13 years. I am going to be attending these shows, and I'm hoping things turn out differently than the last time Phish was there. In 1996 the town of Morrison was over run by fans that showed up without tickets, eventually causing a miniature riot with police making everyone leave.

Nolan and I both plan on attending these shows, so you can expect to hear more about them as the summer approaches.
